Saccomani white is an artisanal, peasant and territorial wine that has its roots in the rocky and sandy soils of Piacenza, precisely in Val d'Arda. Fermentation with indigenous yeasts, white vinification in steel and fiberglass tanks, unclarified and with a low level of added sulphites. A satisfying sip with tropical notes on one side and a refreshing blade on the other.

WHY WE LIKE IT

This Emilian white wine honors the Piacenza hills and its true, peasant soul. An agile and flowing wine with a tropical, fruity profile that enchants with a straight, refreshing sip. Summery and convivial, it pairs well with picnic in the park full of sandwiches and big salads, as well as with seafood dishes that wink at the whale splashing around on the label.

Saccomani

Saccomani winery is a small family business based in Diolo, a tiny hamlet in the municipality of Lugagnano, in the beating heart of the Piacenza hills. Here the soils visually bear the signs of the once presence of the sea, with a sandy conformation rich in Pliocene fossils. The typical grapes are Malvasia di Candia Aromatica and Ortrugo for the whites and Barbera and Bonarda (or Croatina) for the reds, the latter varieties which combine to give life to the well-known Gutturnio, an expression of everyday wine par excellence made in Piacenza.

The origins of the Saccomani winery are historical, we are talking about the 19th century, with a tradition handed down from generation to generation, today embodied by Claudia and Luca, who took over the baton from their father Giuseppe. For them, taking care of Nature at every stage of production is the secret to obtaining an authentic, lively and memorable product. In the vineyard, only copper and sulphur are used for treatments, biological control between the rows and obsessive attention to the surrounding environment and the biodiversity of the area. In the cellar, only indigenous yeasts activate the fermentations, we try to touch the wines as little as possible to keep their natural profile intact and a few sulphites are added before packaging.

We met - and fell in love with - Saccomani with their sparkling wines refermented in the bottle and we can only be happy to be able to have their still wines in bag in box on Sfusobuono today. Saccomani is part of the FIVI - Italian Federation of Independent Winemakers and of the association VinNatur. And for those who don't yet know the wines of this cellar, we like to describe them this way: clean, without ungainly flaws and without unnecessary corrections. Simply territorial.
