Marche Bianco by Margherita and Roberto is a white wine made from Verdicchio and Biancame grapes, grown on old vines planted back in the 1960s and brought back to life in Contrada Morella, near Cupramontana"It’s the simplest wine that could possibly exist on the face of the earth," says Roberto Alfieri - and that means: spontaneous fermentation, 7 months on fine lees in stainless steel, unfiltered, with just a pinch of sulfur to keep things clean. This isn’t some ultra-refined wine - it’s a farmer’s wine: fresh, raw and real, in the truest, most honest sense of the word.

WHY WE LIKE IT

Marche Bianco is the winemaking hallmark of the all-round farm that Margherita and Roberto have patiently brought to life over time. It’s a simple white, echoing the kind of wine Marche farmers used to pour at their kitchen tables for everyday meals. The perfect mate for casual bites: savory pies, crostone with butter and anchovies or a veggie-packed frittata.

Margherita e Roberto

Margherita and Roberto’s farming project didn’t happen overnight, it grew little by little, with time, care and a strong desire to do things their own way. The vision was always clear: not a one-track farm, but a multifunctional, all-round agricultural project, where every product tells the story of something lived and shared. First came the bees, then the garden, the olive trees, a few chickens. And now, with this first batch of Marche IGT for Sfusobuono, there’s wine too.

The perfect opportunity came when they were able to bring back to life some old 1960s vineyards that were on the verge of being abandoned. Roberto Alfieri has always worked in the wine world (Cà Liptra ring a bell?) and Margherita was born and raised in Cupramontana, so falling in love with wine was kind of inevitable. With solid experience in wineries and tastings, she’s not only a sommelier, but also (and most importantly) a great drinker. From these simple ingredients comes their wine: natural, rustic, honest, a little rough around the edges, full of hard work and deeply satisfying.

Today, Margherita and Roberto’s farm stretches across 12 hectares of vineyards, olive groves, pastureland, and woodland. It all started with the bees, then came vegetables and poultry, then olive oil, and finally, wine. For us at Sfusobuono, adding this authentic Marche white wine to our catalog feels a bit like coming full circle. Back in 2020, during our very first scouting trip, we met Roberto and his bottled wines. We parted ways with a promise to reconnect and now, here it is: Marche Bianco in bag in box, waiting patiently for the right moment.
